We are thrilled to announce that Empowerment has been awarded a grant of £103,617 from the fabulous Children in Need! The grant is to fund a full-time worker in our award winning, ‘The Den’ project for three years, which is amazing! ‘The Den’ supports children and young people whose lives have been torn apart as a result of experiencing domestic abuse. The children and young people receive individualised 1:1 support and a chance to participate in group activities to help keep themselves safe and enable resilience; so as to go on to lead happy and successful lives despite being traumatised at such an early age. This is such vital work and we are so pleased that Children in Need have recognised the importance of what we are doing.
Each year in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast, we know that hundreds of children are experiencing domestic abuse on a daily basis. Our Children in Need grant will go a long way to help tackle this huge issue, however, we know that there are still too many children and young people not receiving the specialist support they should be getting.
Therefore, we are on a mission in partnership with other organisations who are also doing great work; to get the resources we need so that no child or young person who lives in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast who is experiencing domestic abuse is left unsupported.
